How Modernizing Processes transformed the operations of the Food Industry?

Summary:

Jay is the founder of a restaurant business, The Everyday Bowl. We built an app using Glide to automate his restaurant’s business internal operations with features like automatic kitchen order ticket (KOT) generation, daily meal plan schedule for chef and delivery boys, meal sticker generation, driving route optimization and customer updates via WhatsApp.

Client:

The Everyday Bowl is a healthy meal subscription company. They are focused on creating healthy meals that do not suck. The business included a meal delivery system where each of his clients was on a subscription with him.

Every single day they would receive some meal box based on their choices. They had multiple different options like meals per day, their duration and meal type which they can select while giving the order from the website.

Challenge:

When we met Jay, he was 2 years into his business & had a very strong system figured out. Keeping all the different permutations and combinations in mind, Jay had to prepare a list of all the food that went out every single day.

He already had a very strong logic and a system in place to do that. But he was manually doing everything via Notebook and Excel sheets.

To create that delivery list or the meal list for every single day, he had to spend some time using his own logic and creating that list. And if he did not do that every day, the chefs would not know what to prepare.

Finally, these meals had to be delivered through delivery boys so he also needed to prepare another list. He had to manually send them addresses and phone numbers.
When the business was small (20-30 meals/day), it used to take him 1 hour to generate this information for chefs and delivery boys both.

But as the business started scaling, it started becoming cumbersome for him. It was a huge headache for him as everything was a manual entry.

"I used to spend three to four hours every single morning figuring out these little details. It was stressful work and it caused me to make a little mistake here and there and that resulted in customer service complaints quite often."

It is so much easier to train the employees now with the simple app than the complicated Excel sheets in the past.
